Residential Support Services

Comprehensive residential support services including group homes, shared living arrangements, and independent living options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Rhode Island.

Our residential support services are designed to help individuals with disabilities live in the most integrated, independent setting possible while receiving the support they need to be successful in their chosen communities.

Our Services

24-Hour Residential Services 

Our group homes provide 24-hour support for individuals who need ongoing assistance with daily living activities, medication management, and community participation. 

Group Home Features: 

  • Small, homelike environments with typically 3-4 residents 
  • 24/7 staffing with trained support professionals 
  • Individual bedrooms and shared common areas 
  • Meal planning and preparation support 
  • Medication administration and health monitoring 
  • Transportation to work, programs, and community activities 
  • Regular family contact and visits 

Services Provided: 

  • Personal care and hygiene assistance 
  • Meal planning, shopping, and cooking support 
  • Medication management and health coordination 
  • Household management and maintenance 
  • Budgeting and money management 
  • Social and recreational activities 
  • Transportation services 

Alternative Residential Settings 

Shared living provides an alternative to traditional group homes, where individuals live with approved host families or providers in family-like settings.

Eligibility & Requirements

Residential support services are available to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are eligible for services through BHDDH and require ongoing support to live safely in the community. 

Application Process: 

  1. Contact BHDDH to determine eligibility and service authorization 
  2. Complete comprehensive assessment and planning process 
  3. Tour available residential options 
  4. Match with appropriate residential setting and staff 
  5. Develop individualized service plan 
  6. Begin receiving residential supports

Best place I have seen hands down!! They truly care for their residents as well as their staff. They make sure residents are engaged in the community by doing all different types of activities. They are treated with such love and respect. I would highly recommend Community Living of Rhode Island to a loved one or anyone adult with disabilities.
